From shy starlet to the world’s next supermodel: Just 19 and worth £1.9million, the meteoric rise of Kendall Jenner (and why Kim isn’t happy about it)

Unless
you've been living under a rock, you'll know that Kim is the breakout
star of her family reality TV show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
But
while Kim (and her world-famous derriere) hogs the headlines thanks to
her risque outfits, relationship with Kanye West and daring photoshoots,
her 19-year-old sister Kendall has been quietly carving a career for
herself.
Kendall,
the second youngest half-sister of Kim, started out on the E! show as
the shyest sibling - avid fans will remember when she was too nervous to
interview people on the street for her Teen Vogue column.

But
fast-forward a few years and she's the coolest Kardashian/Jenner export
- with a reported net worth of £1.9m and counting - and even Kim seems
to be feeling threatened.
Indeed, style bible GQ this week hailed Kendall the coolest person in the world citing 2015 as 'the year of the Jenner'.
So
how has the 19-year-old made such a name for herself, landed the hottest
fashion campaigns, and forged the coolest friendship group at an age
when her big sister was only known as Paris Hilton's stylist?
Kendall may have started out on the E4 show as the shyest, but she's quietly carved a huge name for herself
At
the tender age of 21, Kim had already married - and divorced - and was
tottering around Tinseltown in Paris' shadow. It wasn't until her sex
tape with singer Ray J got leaked in 2007 that she got tongues wagging.
Kendall,
meanwhile, was thrust into the limelight on the hit TV show, which
follows the life of her glamorous family, when she was 14.
It
has been her lifelong dream to break away from the show that propelled
her to fame and cement her name as a model - and now Kendall is making
her fantasy a reality.
The
youngest of the Kardashian clan walked in the season's hottest fashion
week shows and was recently unveiled as the face of Estee Lauder.
Then,
Karl Lagerfeld, the industry's most esteemed designer, revealed that
Kendall has been chosen as the face of his SS15 campaign.
The
Chanel head honcho has reportedly asked the reality TV star to feature
in the ad for his Spring/Summer 2015 collection alongside fellow models
Sasha Luss, Ming Xi and Baptiste Giabiconi.
Earlier this year she starred in Givenchy's A/W 2014 campaign, which was shot by renowned photographers Mert and Marcus.
And over the last two seasons she has been booked for show after show.
When
she walked the Marc Jacobs A/W 2014 runway, she made headlines all over
the world in a daring nipple-baring top, and is the brand's current
campaign star.
Appearances in LOVE Magazine - including in an embrace with Cara Delevingne - haven't hurt either.
Estee Lauder named Kendall as their
new face and asked her to announce the news via her social media
accounts; she has a cool 33m Instagram followers

Katie Grand - who has championed Kendall in her publication - said of
the decision to cast the young star, 'When we are casting Marc Jacobs, I
always try and throw in a couple of unexpected models.
'When Kendall Jenner's agent, Christopher Michael, called me and asked me to meet Kendall, I was intrigued.'
The
recent models.com list of the top 50 models in the world also seemed to
confirm that Kendall is overtaking her peers in the high fashion
stakes.
The
list ranks models according to how many campaigns, front covers and
followers they have - and Kendall made the cut for the first time.
Writing
about the model on her bio page, the site says: 'A+ management and a
selective slate of bookings have elevated Kendall to the heights of
modeling in record time.
Kendall and Cara have both walked for Chanel, but it is thought Kendall will take the brand's SS15 campaign
'With
an Estee Lauder contract under her belt, a multi-page editorial in US
Vogue and work with the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Katie Grand and Marc
Jacobs, Kendall is the bonafide girl of the moment.
'You can expect her wholesome good looks and millions of followers to take her straight to the top.'
It
probably doesn't hurt that the second youngest of the Kardashian clan
has a cool 33 million Instagram followers - the equivalent of more than
half the population of the UK.
Kendall
- who recently earned a 13-page spread in the December issue of Vogue
and another this month - is very much enamoured with the fashion
industry, though, claiming that she has worked had to get where she is
today.
In
a recent interview, she said: 'I’m not trying to use a family name or
anything. In reality I worked pretty hard for this… It wasn’t like I
just got it magically and it just happened.'
She continued: 'I would always be looking at these supermodels, they were just so amazing to me, they were like superheroes.
'I
want to be some little girl's superhero. I want to be the best role
model I can be to a little girl or a little boy or to anybody.'
