'If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it:' Katy Perry addresses Taylor Swift feud ahead of Super Bowl show
Katy Perry is gearing up for 'the biggest event' of her career - her halftime performance on Super Bowl Sunday.
And yet the singer's fallout with fellow siren Taylor Swift seems to turning into another kind of spectator event.
Katy
is keenly aware of the digs Taylor has purportedly made towards her,
and she indicated that she won't take them lying down, telling the
February 7 issue of Billboard:'If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it.'
Biggest event of her career: The
30-year-old superstar will perform in front of over 100 million people
on Sunday during Super Bowl - yet her row with Taylor Swift is turning
into a spectator event too
Back
in September, Taylor said in an interview with Rolling Stone that her
song Bad Blood was about a female musician - and 'straight-up enemy.'
Katy then tweeted with a possible slant in Swift's direction: 'Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing.'
The
pop stars have been in each other's paths for many years, and the pair
even seemed to be friends for a while, gladly posing for photos
together.
Bad Blood: Taylor Swift has been a
thorn in the Roar singer's side for months and Katy is keenly aware of
the digs Taylor had purportedly made about her and she's not going to
take them lying down
What started it: Katy and Taylor used
to be friends who posed together at events like this one in 2011, but
that ended when three of Taylor's dancers left to go back to work with
Katy last year
Perry could be be the star Swift was referring to in an interview with Rolling Stone last November.
Taylor told Rolling Stone: 'For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not.
'She
would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away,
and I would think, "Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest
insult of my life?"
'Then
last year, the other star crossed a line. She did something so
horrible, I was like, "Oh, we're just straight-up enemies." And it
wasn't even about a guy!
Fair warning: Katy told Billboard: 'If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it'
Red hot right now: Katy has other priorities on her list - namely her Super Bowl performance
'It
had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire
arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.'
As TMZ reported, the feud ignited when three of Taylor's dancers quit to go work for Katy.
Taylor 'felt betrayed' because she had considered the dancers as family, the news site reported.
